April Beauty & Fashion Favorites, 2017

I can’t believe April is almost over! With my birthday on the 20th and having went on a vacation to Florida, it was definitely the best month of 2017! And since I picked up my first tan of the year, it was also a great month for beauty as well.

I have so many true favorites from the month, and couldn’t wait to share! Many are old favorites that I was excited to bring back into my life, while some were brand new. All of them, however, are going to be staples throughout spring and into summer.

Cover FX Illuminating Primer

First up, I’ve been absolutely loving this sample of the COVER FX Illuminating Primericon. Unlike the custom highlighting drops, this creamy formula is a bit more subtle and is absolutely gorgeous to apply on no makeup, makeup days. Especially on tan skin, I love to use this across the tops of my cheeks and under my eyes, and sometimes on my forehead on days when I want extra glowy skin. Underneath concealer, this adds life to my skin without being too shiny. It does help my undereye concealer go on a bit more smoothly, and helps it last without creasing. I have about one use left, so I’m definitely considering purchasing the full size in my next Sephora haul.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal

I also managed to snag this mini of the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal as a 100 point perk from Sephora (score!), and am in love with the glow that it provides. It’s definitely not subtle, so if you’re a highlight fiend you’ll definitely want to give it a try. The champagne-gold hue is pretty with a tan, and in summer I know this is going to be a staple!

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny

For years, the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer has been my go-to staple bronzer. The color is perfect for my olive-toned complexion, and is not overly orange or muddy. I can use it for a subtle contour, or for warming up my complexion. I love using this over my forehead, on my temples, in my cheek contours and along my jawline for a smooth, bronzed look. Plus, at less than $6 it’s so affordable! Can’t get enough :)

NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound

With the softer pinks of spring, I’ve been loving the NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound that was in a recent Play! by Sephora box. Unlike many of the liquid lipsticks on the market today, this “gloss” does not dry down to an impenetrable shield, but instead stays smooth like a lipstick. Since it doesn’t dry down, it keeps my lips feeling moisturized and soft, but still gives plenty of pigment for a similar effect. You do have to apply it more often than a liquid lipstick, but the shade and wear are so pretty that I don’t mind at all.

Essie Nail Polish in Fiji

As soon as the sun starts to set a bit later, I pull out Essie’s Fiji nail polish. This pastel pink is a cult classic, and is absolutely perfect for spring. Something about this shade makes me feel optimistic for warmer weather (which is slow-going in Vermont). It’s such a happy color for me, and I’ve been wearing it non-stop in April.

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin

If you’re into cream blushes, you have to try the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin. This drugstore classic is a cream to powder finish, and looks absolutely stunning on tan skin. While this product has mixed reviews, I would recommend using it with a synthetic stipple brush rather than your fingers. It is much harder to get an even application when you use your fingers, but I do feel like with the bouncy texture of the product that that would be your first inclination. When used with a brush, this product applies so smoothly and leaves such a pretty, glowing look. I don’t find that it moves my concealer, and looks so lovely when you can see my freckles peeking through.

Stella McCartney POP

Again, another sample has stolen my heart. I picked out a couple perfume samples to bring with my to Florida, Chloe being one (my travel staple), and Stella McCartney POP being the other. While I heard a lot about this perfume on social media, something about the packaging did not appeal to me, so I didn’t give it a try. Not until I heard Kathleen Lights rave about it on her YouTube channel did I even give it a try. It’s fruity and floral, and so refreshing compared with some other designer scents. I thought it would be fun for my birthday and the tropical vibes of Siesta Key. Especially now that I’ve worn it on vacation, I would love to pick up the full size so that I can relive the memories. Sephora is currently offering 3x points on fragrance purchases, so I might have to pick it up…. Though  I really shouldn’t until I finish up some other perfumes. #torn.

ZAC Zac Posen Eartha Iconic with Floral Applique

As a birthday treat to myself, I picked up the ZAC Zac Posen Eartha handbag with navy blue leather and floral detailing. As soon as I saw it on Amazon, I knew I had to pick it up. Plus, I had a 20% off coupon from Amazon in the mail, so I knew it was meant to be. Most of my bags are pretty small, so I love how this bag gives a ton of room, and can be worn in the crook of my arm a la Taylor Swift, or on my shoulder with the strap. It’s beautifully designed, and looks so classy for a very reasonable price. If you’re looking for a fun designer bag that won’t empty your savings, this is a perfect choice.

Lucky Brand Gold Aviator Sunglasses

I’ve always loved how aviators look on my heart-shaped face, and I adore these classic gold aviators from Lucky Brand. Unlike a lot of other brands, these are a little bit smaller, so they don’t swamp my face. They also don’t have too much of a mirrored effect, which though I do like, is a bit more flashy than I like with a lot of my classic looks. If you have a small face, I think you will love this pair!

Floral One-Piece Bathing Suit

I wish I could find this floral one-piece on Forever 21, but it looks like it’s sold out. All throughout my vacation this one-piece was a staple. It’s definitely girly, having cute tied off shoulders and a coral pink floral print, but the low back was absolutely gorgeous both on and off the beach. I loved pairing this with a chambray high-waist skirt from J-Crew for wearing around town.

Nike Dri Fit Sports Bra

Never in my life has a sports bra fit so well and so comfortably. Because it is lengthened at the bottom, this bra doesn’t dig into my ribs the way some of the more traditional bras do. I picked this one up from TJ Maxx, so I wasn’t able to find a link, but the closest comparison on Nike’s site is this bra here. I’m going to keep my eyes peeled whenever I head to TJ Maxx for any more Nike workout gear because I love this bra so much.
