The second I opened my Birchbox this month, I squealed with delight. How cute is this month’s print from Rifle Paper Co.?!? I will definitely keep this box – it would be perfect to keep in the basket drawers I bought from Target to keep at my desk at work.
But let’s be real, what really counts is the products inside of the box, and this month I was not quite as excited as I normally am. Each of the products I received is ok, but nothing really stood out that I knew I would love. Let’s take a look at what I received:
Birchbox Unboxing, April 2016
Dr. Jart+ Liftra Contour Cream
I’m a big fan of Dr. Jart products, but I’m not sure that I will get enough uses from the sample of the Liftra Contour Cream to get a good idea of whether or not it is right for me. I’m happy to use it, but shake my head a little when the samples are too small to get an idea of whether or not I should purchase the full size.
Davines Ol Shampoo, Conditioner and All in One Milk
I have tried Davine shampoo in the past and loved it, so I am excited to try out more items from the line. Birchbox sent through the shampoo and conditioner in bonus sachets, and then a pretty decent sized bottle of the All in One Milk.
The Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick
So far I have loved the cream highlighter that I received from Birchbox a few months ago, so I was happy to see another item from the Beauty Crop. The PBJ Smoothie Stick is so pigmented and it’s such a pretty berry color and is perfect for spring – uppermost swatch below.
Au Naturale Cosmetics Trio in Lovely
One of the items that I picked out when given the choice was the Au Naturale trio which features a lipstick, cream blush and cream eyeshadow in a small palette… and when I say small, I mean really small. I’m a bit disappointed in this one, as there’s barely any product, and the trays are not even big enough for my fingers. You have to have the right brushes in order to use this at all. Not to mention, the pigment is just not there. The lipstick, blush and eyeshadow are swatched above.
English Laundry Notting Hill Femme Eau de Parfum
Again, I was a little bit disappointed in the sample of English Laundry’s Notting Hill Femme perfume. I’m a fan of sample perfumes, but I prefer that they come with a spritz nozzle. This scent is not for me either, it’s a bit too powdery – I prefer more crisp, fresh scents.
So not my favorite box from Birchbox, but I’m still a bit fan of Birchbox. This month I was able to redeem $30 worth of points towards a sample kit from Tata Harper, which I’m super excited to try!
