Sample Sunday: Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

Typically with mascara I can tell right off the bat whether or not the formula will work for me. With the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara, I knew right away that I was in love. I was so impressed with this sample, and didn’t turn to any other mascaras once I opened this tube!

First off, I really love the curve of the wand and the widespread wire bristles that comb through every lash. The medium-thick formula is perfect for adding volume to your lashes, while the bristled comb helps to drag the product to the top of your lashes, creating a beautiful, fluttery length that is very flattering on all lashes.

Eyeko’s Black Magic Mascara delivers drama, volume and curl in one easy sweep of its cleverly curved brush. Its water-resistant formula stays put for over 12 hours, but despite this, is incredibly easy to remove.

I have relatively dry skin, so I don’t typically have a hard time with mascara running or smudging on my skin. I did find that this formula was a bit more waxy, so if you do have oily lids it may smudge with rubbing. For my skin type, however, the conditioning formula was a nice break on my lashes, and was very easy to remove. I feel like this helped prevent breakage on my lashes, and helped me keep my fringe thicker.

The formula includes keratin and shea butter, which help to condition your lashes, and prevents that super stiff crunchy look that a lot of formulas have today. I much prefer something softer for my lashes – especially since I do not need a 24-hour wear formula.

All-in-all, I’m definitely a fan of the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara. At $25 I do think it’s a stretch – I pretty much live off of free mascara samples, so it’s hard to even imagine paying for a mascara, but for this brush and formula I could see myself splashing out. To make it a little easier, the no-waste squeeze tube does let you grab every last drop. Compared to the average high-end mascara tube, you will get a lot more product for your dollar since it’s not being wasted because it can’t be reached.
