More than any other season, fall is the time when I like to shop. I’m a fan of chunky knits and classic booties, so it can be hard not to act on the sugar buzz of pumpkin spice treats and buy everything as far as the eye can see.
If you’ve committed to a capsule wardrobe, the key is to pick up items that will last. You need pieces that are classic enough to stand the test of time, but add a little oomph to give your outfits a bit more pizazz. REVOLVE has some really great pieces from all sorts of designers, and I’ve picked out my top 5 bits for this fall and beyond.
Top 5 Fall Capsule Wardrobe Picks from REVOLVE
Lucy Paris Mandy Bell Sleeve Top
You can never go wrong with a classic sweater, and what I love so much about this frilly number from Lucy Paris is that it matches fun elements with long-lasting quality. The scalloped-trim ruffles are so feminine and classic for this time of year, and you’re getting in a bit of the trend with the bell sleeves.
This autumn I would pair this girly sweater with a black leather skirt (below), and black boots for a more edgy take.
BlankNYC Lace Up Faux Leather Skirt
Leather is always a classic, and I love this modernized version with lace-up detailing from BlankNYC. Similar to the button-up suede versions of this kind, this leather skirt will follow the latest trends and give you that Instagram-vibe outfit. But, since this is leather and uses lace instead of the round snap buttons, this will truly work with so many different looks.
This season I would pair this skirt with a chunky sweater, or a ribbed, 90s-style top for a fun, cool-girl look.
Rebecca Minkoff Chevron Quilted Small Love Crossbody Bag in Dark Cherry
Rebecca Minkoff bags have stood the test of time and have been popular for years. Further yet, the Love Crossbody style provides that classic, Chanel-esque look while adding fun new details and a much lower price. Where you save in price, however, you’re not letting go in quality.
Rebecca Minkoff bags can last through a lot of wear, and this dark cherry color mixed with black hardware is just so unique and cool. It will work with a lot of different looks through fall into winter.
GRLFRND Candice Mid-Rise Skinny Jean
As much as I love the rough hems and distressed denim looks of the season, I’m not sure how long this style will last. Instead, I would invest in a clean-cut, cropped pair like this choice from GRLFRND. Cropped denim will always look good paired with heels, and the wash of this pair is so figure flattering. These jeans will work with almost any look, and the darker wash is great for dressing up and dressing down.
I would pair these jeans with a black turtleneck and printed booties, or even with the classic preppy look of boots, a vest and a flannel scarf. There’s really so much you can do with a great pair of jeans.
Circus by Sam Edelman Rollins Bootie
Last but not least, every girl should have a reliable pair of black booties to throw on with a ton of different looks. I love how this pair from Sam Edelman throw in a bit more detail with the faux snakeskin pattern on the back half of the boot, and the semi-matte soft leather look on the front. The stacked heels are tall enough to give a bit of height, but with a chunkier heel are so easy to walk in.
Booties look great with jeans, skirts, dresses… you name it. They’re my favorite type of shoe, and look great on all different body types.
