There are few brands that I get as excited about as Juice Beauty. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from this brand and have even found some new holy grail favorites. When I saw that they released a new line of cream luminizers, I was so excited! The dual-ended PHYTO-PIGMENTS Flash Luminizer comes in 3 different color ranges, and gives off such a pretty dewy look while still being natural. I was kindly sent each of the shade ranges to try, and was truly impressed.
If you’re the type that loves a strong, bold highlight these won’t be for you. Instead, these are perfect for daily wear at the office, or if you’re into a more natural finish like I am. They are purposed to be used as dewy blushers or for cream contouring while providing a beautiful natural glow that you will love!
Of the three shade ranges, two are more blush-toned and one provides a bronzed finish. Depending on your skin tone, you may be able to use all 3 shades, but I don’t feel that there are many who would fit with every shade. I personally don’t feel that any of these shades would work for dark skintones, and if you’re very fair these may also be too dark. The three options are:
- 01 Golden & 02 Bronze – Best for medium to medium dark skin tones
- 03 Cream & 04 Marigold – Best for light to medium dark skin tones
- 05 Blush & 06 Rose – Best for light to medium skin tones
From left to right: 05 Blush & 06 Rose | 03 Cream & 04 Marigold | 01 Golden & 02 Bronze
All three shade options swatch very darkly, but can easily be blended to a much more subtle cheek color. While you can apply the cream sticks straight to the face, I much prefer to use a synthetic brush over the end such as the e.l.f. Cosmetics Stipple Brush for an easier and more even application. With this, I actually find the packaging to be a bit clunky and annoying. Each end pops out when you push on the opposite end, but for the amount of product included I would prefer that they be sold separately.
Is the PHYTO PIGMENTS Range Safe for Your Skin?
Where Juice Beauty is different from many other beauty brands is in its clean ingredient ethos. With the price of these luminizers at $32 for each duo I would expect that I am paying for quality ingredients – otherwise I might turn to a more established makeup brand for blush such as Hourglass or BECCA. Each shade has a different list of ingredients, but all are free of parabens, petroleum, propylene or butylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, pesticides, phthalates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances.
Organic coconut oil is the first ingredient on all, while other skin-benefiting ingredients include jojoba oil, shea butter, grape seed oil, sunflower oil, rose powder and more. If you avoid talc, these products do include magnesium silicate, and beware that not 100% of the ingredients are organic. Before buying I do encourage you to take a look at the list of ingredients, but as a whole these are very safe products.
And with that out of the way, let’s take a look at each of the shades!
05 Blush & 06 Rose
Top – 05 Blush | Bottom – 06 Rose
If you’re strictly looking for blush, the Blush & Rose duo is going to be the best choice. These floral pink tones are going to be so beautiful on fair skin for spring. These shades are really going to liven up your skin to provide a pretty dewy flush. Blush has a subtle shimmer that works well on the apples of your cheeks, while rose has an almost silver metallic sheen that is more suitable as a highlight.
03 Cream & 04 Marigold
Top – 03 Cream | Bottom – 04 Marigold
The middle duo is by far my favorite. Cream is an absolutely gorgeous highlight shade for fair to medium skin tones and Marigold is a beautiful peach with very little shimmer – this is particular is going to look perfect with a tan, but would also look pretty on fair skin tones. This duo is by far the easiest to work with and is going to be universally flattering on anyone from light skin tones to medium dark. If you’re looking to buy one set I would recommend this one most.
01 Golden & 02 Bronze
Top – 01 Golden | Bottom – 02 Bronze
Of the three, the Golden & Bronze duo was the hardest to work with. It’s going to be difficult to match the bronze shade with your skin tone. If you’re fair, don’t bother with this duo, the bronze shade is very dark and does not work for contouring. If you have medium to medium dark skin tones, the bronze shade will work to warm up the outer areas of your face including your forehead, temples and tops of the cheeks. The warm terra-cotta shade is going to be too red for most skin tones, but the golden highlighter is very pretty.
While I can only use the bronze shade of this duo to thin out my nose, the golden highlight is going to be a go-to shade for me in the warmer months. As I mentioned towards the beginning of this post, if you’re looking for a strong highlight this is not going to be it. It’s a bit more of a subtle shimmer, but for the beach or for more natural makeup days I know this is going to be a favorite. It would also be so pretty to use to highlight your collar bone for the cute off-the-shoulder looks of spring.
Uses for the PHYTO-PIGMENTS Flash Luminizers
All-in-all, I know I’m going to get a ton of use out of the PHYTO-PIGMENTS Flash Luminizers. I am a blush fiend and so I’m always excited to try out new formulas. While I don’t love the packaging, because I have all 3 duos I can swap out the colors to make my own combinations for travel. From adding a bronze glow to your skin to giving a beautiful glow for spring, these are going to be strong contenders for spring beauty.
The luminzers are also available in travel blush sets, which I’ve included above. If you’ve tried out the Flash Luminizers, leave a comment below to let me know what you think!
