I’m middle of the road when it comes to dry shampoo – I don’t use it every day, but find that it can be the perfect tool to extend a hairstyle for another day. I turn to dry shampoo to give my hair more volume at the roots, absorb oil and freshen things up. There are a few different brands that I love, but so far nothing compares to the Living Proof Perfect hair Day Dry Shampoo.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
I have relatively dark hair, so the biggest factor for me is usually white cast. I find that Batiste Dry Shampoo leaves my hair looking gray, and I have the same issue with the Suave Professionals Refresh and Revive Dry Shampoo. But with Living Proof’s dry shampoo I do not have this issue. The powder does go on white, but quickly absorbs into my roots for a natural looking color and texture.
Application tip: See a little white residue? No worries, that’s the cleaning in action as the oil and sweat are absorbed by the dry shampoo. Just wait 30 seconds and brush gently to remove.
I do have dry skin, which also means that my hair does not get overly oily or greasy quickly – I can comfortably go 3 days without washing my hair. But when I do use the dry shampoo, I can definitely notice that it absorbs all and any oil that may be in my hair, but doesn’t feel like it’s stripping my hair or making it stiff. It gives a similar feel as if you have used baby powder in your hair. I definitely think this would be an amazing formula for those who struggle with oily hair.
I’m also a fan of the scent of this product. It’s very similar to Honest Company hair products in that it’s a bit citrusy with a hint of vanilla, which is one of my favorite combinations. The scent is relatively strong when first applied, but fades within a couple minutes. It’s enough to refresh hair on the worst of days, but won’t compete with your perfumes or shampoo.
The one thing I will say about this product is that It’s not as volumizing as other more gritty dry shampoos on the market. If you’re looking for volume, I highly recommend the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, or psssst! Instant Spray Shampoo for a more budget-friendly option (this is my go to dry shampoo from the drugstore).
Lastly, I’m happy to see that Living Proof takes a stand on some of the more harmful ingredients commonly used in hair products.
All Living Proof products are sulfate-free, silicone-free and oil-free. Safe and formulated for color and chemically treated hair.
Though the price is a lot higher than some of my drugstore favorites, I know I can count on this dry shampoo to refresh my hair. As someone who likes to sleep in, being able to skip the extra 45 minutes of washing, drying and styling my hair is absolute perfection!
